On small failures and planning greater growth.

Trees

So the whole exam thing did not go so great.  A minor moment of panic meant I briefly forgot:
   a) everything I learnt
   b) the English language
   c) how to use a pen and paper to make letters.

But heck, when the post-exam afternoon is spent with wonderful friends, drinking wine and playing Mario Party on the Wii and finished with a midnight walk in fluttery snow, it somehow seems much less important.

And, my favourite moment of perspective, I heard a man talking on the radio about planting trees.  He said that by planting a tree, you take a completely different understanding of time as you are shaping what the very earth will look like in the future.  Not just in your lifetime but perhaps for hundreds of years.  I like that thought, one simple action can span years you'll never see.
I crave leaving the city, ignoring paperwork and having a garden.

  1. I hope everything went well anyway! I, too, am a HORRIBLE test taker, so I can definitely relate.

  2. Ah, test anxiety-horrible thing. I hope it is better than you think too!

I love the part about trees you shared. I also heard this today from a colleague: http://scienceblog.com/59168/tree-and-human-health-may-be-linked/. It almost seems like a universe/earthly plea to plant more trees!!
